Happy Easter 2011!

We had a fun Easter weekend this year.  Grandpa, Grandma, Aunt Becca, and Uncle Jason all came up for the festivities.  We colored eggs, went on an egg hunt outside that Mommy, Uncle Jason, and Grandma hid, and had an Easter feast.  The Easter Bunny paid us a visit and we hid our colored eggs all through the house, along with the children's baskets.  We had some yummy bunny shaped cinnamon rolls, and finished decorating our Easter tree, which was a new thing we did this year.  Each day for two weeks leading up to Easter we put a different picture of Christ up on our tree, (which was a small tree branch broken off one of our trees), and read the scripture that went along with it.  The children really enjoyed this.  Ashley was always so excited to get to hang one on the tree.  We also added a few colored eggs to the tree, as well, for a splash of color.  After our egg hunt on Saturday, we tried to take a few pictures of the girls together, which was a comical effort.  I don't think we got even one really good picture of all three of them smiling and looking forward at the same time, but they still turned out really cute.  :)

Fairy Houses

For Alexis' birthday, she received a fairy garden that we're going to planting sometime in the next couple of weeks.  The girls decided they would really like to make a couple of fairy houses to go along with their garden.  So we went to hobby lobby and picked up a couple of unfinished bird houses.  Daddy sawed the doorways out for us, I sanded them down, and then the girls designed and painted them on their own.  I think they turned out really cute.  Alexis' is the one with the blue roof and Emily's is the one with the red roof.  They are both currently sewing little beds for their fairy houses and we picked a couple of pieces of doll furniture very cheap at hobby Lobby at 50% off they are going to put in there, as well.

Springtime walk at Dawes Auboritum

For Family Home Evening we decided to take the girls on a Springtime walk though Dawes Arboretum.  It was a beautiful evening and we saw many flowering plants - or angiosperms, as we've been studying.  ;)  The girls were having fun using some of the big words they've been learning to identify some of the different groups of plants.  While we were there we took a few pictures of our "little flowers".

Enjoying the First Days of Spring

It's always so nice to be outside the first days of Spring enjoying the warmth from the sun.  The girls have been having a lot of fun playing in the playhouse.  Ashley adores the swings but is a bit nervous of the big slide since she flies down it so fast, so she prefers taking various toys and other objects and watching them slide down the slide.  :)  As for Alexis and Emily, they love playing house in their playhouse.  It seems Alexis is normally the mother and Emily is the older daughter and Ashley is the baby.  Alexis sweeps out the house and cooks meals and Emily takes a little metal bucket and goes out gathering things like little leaves and acorns to make soup or babysitting the baby while mother is cooking.  They like visiting with the goats every day, as well.  Ashley loves to dress up and when she's inside every day she puts on a princess or ballerina skirt/dress, fairy wings, and play shoes.  Outside she has chosen a baseball hat, a mitt to hang on her wrist, a Dora ball, a whistle around her neck, and a baseball bat to drag around.  It's pretty cute. :)
