On New Years Eve we celebrated in our usual way with games such as Minute to Win It and Flashlight Hide and Go Seek, a movie, confetti on the fan, noisemakers and lots of mess. The house has definitely taken a backseat priority and that's OK. There will be time to clean later. As we were playing flashlight hide and seek with the kids, I was sitting in a closet, nursing my little newborn. As I listened to the sweet sounds of whispers, giggles, and "I found you!", it reminded me of how blessed I am. It has been a whirlwind holiday season between traveling back and forth to visit my mom, keeping up with all our favorite family holiday traditions, being on hospital bedrest for 2 weeks, recovering from a C Section, and caring for a newborn - whew! Yet, through it all, we were able to see God's hand in our lives. My mom is recovering! The doctor told us yesterday that he thinks she won't be in the Rehab facility very long. She is doing so well and has had so many amazing spiritual experiences she shared with us. Our premature newborn is thriving! She had no issue being born early and reached average newborn size by her due date at 7 3/4 pounds. She rarely cries (although she makes lots of funny little noises, ha ha), and is rarely ever out of someone's arms.
;) And even though it may be insignificant, we really enjoy doing a lot of fun family traditions this time of year, such as Grinch night when we dress up like Whoville residents, a pretend train ride (using a wagon pulled by Daddy's tractor mower) to the North pole in pajamas, a candlelight walk to visit the baby Jesus and share our testimonies, visiting the Dicken's Victorian Village and light show in Cambridge, etc. Through everything going on I was still able to coordinate all of our favorite activities and we were able to enjoy a wonderful, relaxing Christmas day (a day early) at home in our PJs, enjoying our children. And then on Christmas Day we were able to spend it with my Mom, talking, laughing and singing together after going through so long of not even seeing her awake and at times having very human doubts that we ever would again in this life, despite trying to hold on to the faith that we knew we would. I have always known prayer was powerful, but these last 2 1/2 months since Mom was first admitted to the hospital has REALLY shown me how powerful prayer can be. I'm looking forward to a wonderful 2016!

Dicken's Villiage
One of our favorite holiday traditions every year is visiting the Dicken's village in Cambridge. I bundled up the baby and wore her on my chest in a baby wrap and we enjoyed dressing up in Victorian clothing, window shopping, and watching the beautiful courthouse light show. Ashley and Adam were so cute holding hands and dancing around to the Christmas music.

Christmas at Grandparents
We held our family Christmas on Christmas Eve so we could be with my mom on Christmas Day. We drove to Charleston and spent the day visiting with her. We sang carols, opened gifts, and enjoyed being together. She still gets confused so easily. A couple of weeks ago I brought the two little ones (Ashley and Adam) in to see her because she has been doing so well. When we got there she must have gotten overwhelmed because when Adam ran over to kiss and hug her she just reached out and started saying, "Nice! Nice!" over and over. He looked scared for a minuted but then Ashley thought Grandma must be teasing so she cracked up giggling and laughing which made him start giggling too. I quickly hurried them over to the corner of the room and gave them phones with videos to watch while we visited. She acted that way pretty much the entire time and kept saying, "Oh dear." over and over, too. Her voice sounded like someone different and it was very unnerving for all of us. When we left everyone was silent. Thankfully when we returned a couple of days later - without the little ones - she was much better. But she kept slipping in and out of these episodes for a couple of weeks. At one point she threatened to blow up the hospital and she sat up for hours at night singing quite loudly. A few days before Christmas we were there and she told us she was going to take us all out to Burger King for Christmas breakfast and then take us shopping and let us each pick out our own Christmas gift. She kept having the girls look for bottles of lotion and was definitely trying to get organized because she kept wanting her pad of paper so she could make notes. When we came back on Christmas Day we had everyone and she did really well. We were even ale to talk with Rachel, Jason and Susan on video chat. A couple of days later we went to Nana and Papaws to celebrate Christmas with them. We didn't see everyone because we were trying to protect Katie from unnecessary germs but Emma was well and able to come over and visit, too. We stayed at Grandma and Grandpa's for a few days and visited Grandma a few times.

Pretty Girl
Alexis received some new makeup for Christmas and I snapped a picture of her with it on. She is growing into such a beautiful young lady on the inside and out. She sets such a good example for her younger siblings in staying true to her beliefs.
Christmas Day
Excited whispering giggles early in morning, nothing left but crumbs on our Santa plate, sparkles all around, a train set, a new doll, a cowboy hat and hobby horse, a dollhouse, new books, Christmas movies and candy: these are some of the things that made up our Christmas day this year.

Christmas Eve
Katie got to play the part of baby Jesus this year as we pretended to walk to Bethlehem to see the Christ Child. We had to stop Adam a few times from shining his flashlight in her face, though. We read the Christmas story and prepared cookies, carrots, and milk for Santa. Adam is finally into Christmas. Thus far he has just been asking for Halloween to come back. I suspect it's because before Halloween things were normal and then afterward he was separated from
Mommy for so long and then everything changed. But he's starting to figure out the magic and wonder of this special time of year and in time hs security will build back up. He was excited to open his gift tonight and to put cookies out for Santa. Ashley and Emily were probably the two most excited of all the children. They kept jumping around excitedly and were very hard to calm down for bed. After all, "Santa Claus is Coming to Town..."
